About me

I started writing while teaching, just as the first PC’s came on the market, and eventually had enough courage to give up the day job – hundreds of ‘magazine’ short stories, serials and travel-related and general interest features published, and also a novel (‘Tiger Country’) and a book for beginner writers, ‘How to Turn Your Holidays into Popular Fiction’). I’ve got 2 more pet novel projects on the go, but there’s no real interest out there. Both are ‘popular’ rather than literary. I believe many readers (especially a large swathe of the huge women’s market) are not being catered for by mainstream publishers who seem to think what is needed is more sex and violence. My fiction niche is ‘romance with an edge of exotic adventure’ involving ordinary people in challenging circumstances, in believable relationships rather than unrealistic ones. Call me old-fashioned. I probably am.

I love the fact that your profile acknowledges the extraordinary lack of 'good' books out in the mainstream market. It's a problem that will most likely only be solved when the reading audiences threaten to withhold their financial support unless their demands are met. Perhaps CN can wield some almighty influence and help lead the way, lol... Take care! (more) and won+3

You may like to know that I've made small alterations to speed up the beginning in particular, and these, together with a other minor improvements have been been incorporated into the version that is now on line to read. Maybe it's the kind of novel that isn't for you, but I'd always be interested in some positive feedback, and to return the favour, should you put a book on line yourself. Cheers, Kate (more) and earned+3

Maybe it's the kind of novel that isn't for you, but I'd always be interested in some positive feedback, and to return the favour, should you put a book on line yourself. I've also finally got the book into print and have added a humorous factual piece at the end to fill up the blank pages. Now I'm starting on the tedious process of getting people to buy it.online Cheers, Kate You must be a truly voracious reader to get through all those books in your library! (more) and received+3
