About me

8th October: Things are moving fast. The atmosphere at the Waterstones Hastings signing was great, with a real buzz in the shop. see press photos at http://www.fiona-skovronsky.vpweb.co.uk Loads of people came to hear stories from the two smugglers with me and the young people enjoyed examining all the props. Sold 21 copies that day, and now there’s a great word-of-mouth thing going on, and with Anna I’m rushing to get things organized so that Gardners can get the book easily in order to fulfil orders through Amazon, Waterstones etc. On Saturday, I’ll be signing copies at the Books Born in Hastings event at the town hall. 19th August: I’ve just come back from doing readings and book signings in the Smugglers’ Adventure tourist attraction. It was great, a really spooky atmosphere, and everyone loved the book covers. I write material for Cornelsen Verlag English language teaching software and I’ve been teaching EFL for 33 years.

Yes, I am the narrator - this is where also being an actor comes in handy! I've only started to learn more and more about completely novel-great place for writers. But I'm very happy with the finished product of my book. Hoping it continues to snowball! well (more) and earned+3

I listened to the extract from 'Black Shoes' on your website and it is impressive. Are you the reader? I like the understated quality of the reading. By the way, when you published with Troubadour, didn't you know that you could go to Completely Novel, who do not charge? God bless, Fiona (more) and won+3

Ah, I'm going to be knee-deep in students for the next few weeks, so can't write a review now, but it's a thought and discussion-provoking story. (more) and received+3

It is not a criticism of the story in any way. (more) and earned+3

Actually I've toned some of the language down, but I'm inclined to think that what people regard as blasphemy is often more to do with their culture than their religious beliefs. The priests I knew in West Africa were never judgmental, and wouldn't have lasted long if they had been. Sorry if it offends, but the dialogue has to be fairly realistic. Do hope the end doesn't shock you too much. Your feedback is always much appreciated, Kate (more) and bagged+3

Am enjoying slowly reading the Wine is Red, and my only problem has been the number of times the charcters blaspheme. Am fine with swearing, but not taking God's name in vain, and in my ecperience, whenever anyone says it around a priest, the priest will say something like 'Praise him'. But the story is riveting and it's good the way things are gradually revealed. (more) and gained+3
