About me

I am European, my family is both English and French. I was born, raised and educated in England, and I live with my lovely wife in our Proven├žal family home. I studied engineering and was fortunate to qualify as a metallurgist, a qualification which became my passport to the world. Thus, from a young age I was destined to travel. I have lived and worked in many countries, and more importantly I have learned much from the people of these countries. Now retired from public life, I am privileged to occupy myself as a writer, creating romantic stories about fictional characters immersed in surroundings I have known. Through my writing I continue to travel, but not alone. I invite you to travel with me to the various locations and communities in which my characters are situated. I hope you enjoy the journey. Leslie Walter.

I have just received the latest order to find that the PDF I submitted on the 17th. has not been registered and again the printers have issued me with the previous version. Having experienced this problem before I made a careful check that the revised PDF had been uploaded. I am becoming very disappointed by this, what can do? (more) and gained+3

You dilemma is a bit of a tricky one, as you will probably find yourself needing to take a big lead in book marketing even if you are picked up by a traditional publisher. Most houses have very limited budgets and resources for new authors, so authors are still expected to chip in. The alternative is to pay for PR assistance, which can be expensive. If you'd like a traditional deal for more reasons than just marketing help, then you should give it a go for a couple of months and see how you get on - it can be a slow process. If not, try limiting your marketing to the things you know have worked for you in the past for a while, whilst you concentrate on writing new things. Good luck! Sarah (more) and won+3

Like other self publishing writers I have discovered that writing my first book involved complete dedication to the task, but getting it marketed is diverting my concentration from continuing to write! I appreciate all of your articles on promotion and marketing, but my research within the industry is advising me that I am in need of professional assistance. So my dilemma is, do I self publish my completed second novel, or should I divert my efforts to concentrate on finding an agent to publish and promote my books? (more) and bagged+3
