I enjoyed the excerpt of this book and it's on my list for future reading.

A humerous story well told. Marje reminds me of my first wife, but I must stress only from the tragic and dramatic poses she adopts. A kind of 'silent movie star' Mind you in my schooldays , sex was a'very taboo' thing. No mention wwas made of the birds and bees, but the occassional 'bike' was thrown at the permissive girl ( A little before her time). Good girls never mentioned any word tha could be construed as sexy and personal hygiene was a silent subject. Back to your book Bryony. Your descriptions are not only realistic but factual to the reader. A good book. Completely different style from my writing but I enjoyed it. Thanks for the read.

    Interesting and, at times, surreal

I suppose I ought to say at the outset that this is not my usual choice of reading material. However, saying that, I found it to be at times funny, interesting, surreal and engrossing. Bryony writes with a distinctive voice that captures the imagination and doesn't let go, managing to draw the reader into the slightly surreal world she is depicting. If this is a true, if somewhat embellished, depiction of a schoolteachers life then it is no wonder that its called one of the most stressful professions in the world. The one thing that occurs to me is, considering that it is, in part, based on her own experiences , which parts are they and are there any libel suits in the offing?

It is very interesting to learn about the process of writing a story.

    A chilling good time!

The story of OTOLI, by Bryony Allen, is a coming of age bully survival tale with an enigmatic twist. The main character, Alice Turner, is a glove any reader can slip into as she faces the day to day torment of being her peers' favorite plaything. I found the story very easy to read and its all too familiar universe very easy to slip in to. Normally, I tend to fall out of interest for such "slice of life" school day genres, but there's a gripping mystery to this tale that kept me coming back. And once the mystery had finally begun to unravel, I found myself thoroughly buckled in to enjoy the ride. My only complaint was that, as much as I identified with Alice, I really enjoyed the self confidence of Kieran, despite being another target of the Populars as well as other nameless, taunting classmates. I would have liked to have seen more from him and felt sad that there was no reconciliation between he and Alice. Other than that, I was thoroughly enthralled with the story and I look...The story of OTOLI, by Bryony Allen, is a coming of age bully survival tale with an enigmatic twist. The cover image is startling and just the start of the book evoked unpleasant memories of my school days.

I really was engrossed by this story. I desperately wanted to know what was going to happen in the end. I also liked that Jenny was sinister and that it didn't have a 'happy ending'.

I had to read this in one sitting.

This is a great read. I had to read on until the end. This story is so very different. It delves into the feelings of bullied children. I loved the paranormal twist on this. I only have one complaint- unless I missed it in the story somewhere - what does OTOLI mean? Bryony, please message me with the answer, otherwise I'll go nuts trying to figure it out, lol.

Ok, only just started, and the type / genre is not my thing really. But no matter, it reads very very well, and the opener hits home for its gritty realism. Yes, the psychological aspect is worse than getting a good working over, odd that, but so true. I am now looking forward to what presumably will be a tie up in this mysterious caf'. Great stuff.
