We’ve been having a spot of bother with our friends at Lightning Source recently. We’ve had a few requests to look into why books aren’t listed on Amazon properly so we’ve been pestering Lightning Source about it.
What I’ve heard from our representative is that they have been having some technical difficulties lately with their feeds.
In normal operation Lightning Source send a feed to Amazon of all the books they print and distribute and through a partnership agreement Amazon list those books as sold through Amazon. In the last 6-7 weeks due to technical difficulties this feed has been broken leading to books being marked as out of stock and Amazon upping the stated delivery time for some books.
I am assured that this will be fixed very soon but there is no date set yet.
The other feed they have been having bother with is the feed we use to send orders to them. In some cases orders have been sent out twice. Rest assured no one has been charged for these (apart from us). LS do seem to have fixed this issue and no duplicate orders have been sent out for about a week now. If you feel like being a good upstanding citizen and have received two books we would welcome a donation to CN for them. We’ll happily reimburse you with a publishing credit or two.
I’ll keep you all posted here as soon as I hear more from LS.
All the best, Oli
