We’re nearing the end of October and even as I’m writing this, I can hear thousands of NaNoWriMo warriors sharpening pencils, stretching typing fingers and saying goodbye to their friends in time for November 1st, when each one will attempt to write 50,000 words in thirty days.

With November looming, we thought we’d remind you of the five most important things you need to do before you start NaNoing. But we get that this is the busiest time of year for you, so rather than take up any more of your time – may we present your pre-NaNoWriMo preparation checklist in MEMES. Good luck with the writing – let us see it when it’s done!

1. Brainstorm and plot your NaNo Novel

“Did you write aliens into this chapter..? Isn’t this a historical novel?”

and, “You wrote ten thousand words in a DAY?!”
