Inside Industries is a four-day series of free talks, workshops and screenings aimed at giving young people the skills needed to pursue a creative career. Our Communications Manager Sarah, will be explaining the process of self-publishing from creating, to promoting your book. Sarah has several books and plenty of publishing experience under her belt, so it’s worth tagging along if you’re looking for a detailed overview of self-publishing. The event is taking place in Deptford Lounge, London, on 19th September.

CompletelyNovel is teaming up with BookMachine and New Writing South for the Brighton Digital Festival this September. ‘Publishing Deconstructed’ will deconstruct the publishing process for writers, and connect them with the local experts who make it happen. Join local publishers, editors, designers, eBook specialists and PR experts for an informal evening of networking and pop-up talks.
The evening will include competitions, interactive games, free downloads and offers, and is open to anyone interested in any aspect of book publishing. ‘Publishing Deconstructed’ is taking place in The Writer’s Place in Brighton’s North Laine, on 24th September.
Tickets are £3.50 and include a free glass of wine, beer or soft drink.
Digital Women UK is celebrating its first anniversary by putting on a programme of talks, networking and debates about issues that women face in the digital industry.
CompletelyNovel’s Anna Lewis, Joanna Ellis of The Literary Platform and Digital Women UK co-founder Joy Frances will discuss a range of topics from marketing your writing online, to web technologies. The discussion will be followed by a Q&A. The event is taking place in Lift Islington on White Lion Street, London, on 30th September.

TED is an annual conference with talks on a variety of topics that explore the best of contemporary thinking and research. TED is coming to Brighton Dome as an independently organised event for the fourth time, and CN’s Sarah Juckes will be attending to pass some of the top tips from the day on to you. This year’s theme is Many Hands and speakers will be exploring ideas around connectivity and community. Speakers include Peter James, British crime and thriller novelist, and Karl Mattingly, founder of online platform slowXchange, among others.

The third Self-Publishing Summit includes authors, editors, agents, printers and PR experts discussing the current market and self-publishing process. Anna will be part of the morning panel talking about self-publishing options, alongside Daniel Cooke of New Generation Publishing and Vanessa Oloughin of Writing.ie.

This annual open day offers both members and non-members the opportunity to see what Book Industry Communication (BIC) has been working on, to exchange ideas and to network.
CompletelyNovel’s co-founder Anna Lewis, also spearheaded Valobox, an eBook pay-as-you-read platform. At BIC’s Open Day, Anna will be talking about eBook discoverability, and browsable eBooks as a key note speaker.
