About me

After a happy career in broadcast journalism (most of it spent with Border TV), I now work freelance on various media and PR-related projects.

I’ve always been a scribbler – and was lucky enough to have nine books published by Mills & Boon, under the pen-name of Rachel Elliot. Now I’m really excited to be joining the self-publishing revolution.

Animals are the great loves in my life – epecially horses, dogs and cats – not necessarily in that order.

So I got a very good friend who's also a broadcast journalist to voice it for me. My husband is a musician and we have a small recording studio at home, so we did the recording there - then I edited on Adobe Premiere Pro Audition. In a funny way this also gave me an opportunity to proof read as mistakes quickly became apparent while the story was being read aloud. While editing I was able to tweak a few bits, speed them up, slow them down. change the pace a little - whatever helped. We recorded the book onto MP3CD, which means it won't play on older CD players but will play on all computers and MP3CD players. We did it this way because you can't get very much audio onto an ordinary cd - and even my book of short stories would have taken up three or four cds. Finally - I used audioboo to upload an excerpt to my blog (gillyfraser.wordpress.com) and used the same clip (copied and pasted link) to here.
