About me

Studying English at Newnham College, Cambridge, then Victorian Studies at Birkbeck, London, I filled several bookshelves with weird and wonderful works. I wouldn’t wish to be parted from any of them (most would probably be of little use to anyone else, in any case, as I have a habit of scribbling my thoughts across the pages as I read!).

In my spare time I enjoy browsing in second-hand bookshops. My favourite discovery to date is an uncorrected proof of Donna Tartt’s fantastic novel The Little Friend. Thank you, Oxfam!

A keen writer, I particularly like producing articles about developments in the literary world. Work experience with CompletelyNovel provided me with the opportunity to hone my writing skills, and I very much enjoy contributing to this great website. You know, I've heard of it but haven't yet come across it - yay for another book to add to the 'to read' pile! I've been making my way through Wolf Hall - only about 180 pages left to go :) I'm waiting to hear if there are out of town people coming in this weekend, but will get back to you about the exhibit, as I really want to see it... Take care! (more)

Tried to post a comment to your 'Rules are meant to be broken' article, but received an error message from the badger! Just wanted to say I'd bought the Guardian especially for the writers' advice. Mind you, Enright's suggestion that 'The first 12 years are the worst' is pretty sobering! Liz (more)
