This would probably make a great discussion topic but whatever you go for I don’t think you should be paying money upfront unless they are guaranteeing results and returns (which they can’t do).

At CN we’re trying to create an environment where you can prove the market for your books and approach literary agents/publishers with a business case.

As far as I have heard if you are intending to send out unsolicited submissions it is a matter of attrition and more luck than judgment.

I started a discussion here, would be great to hear a bit more and maybe we can hear what other people have come across.

To be honest it’s just a case of searching on the internet to find an agent. I did make the mistake a year or so ago of contacting the WL literary agency and coughed up a fair bit of money before googling them. It turns out they are basically one big con. So this time I’m going to use a bit more common sense rather than letting someone like that stroke my ego and fleece me for money. If you have any suggestions I would be happy to hear them.

Yeah it is the trickiest part of the process. How are you thinking of going about finding a agent/publisher?
