My favourite book is Catch 22…and thinking about it, I haven’t read it for a while so I must dig it out. I remember reading it for the first time when I was about 16 and laughing out loud in my bedroom so much that my sister had to come down the corridor at home and check that I wasn’t having some kind of mental episode.
As a child, Roald Dahl was always my favourite. I still feel the same mix of fascination and fear when I glance over a copy of The Witches. Quentin Blake’s illustrations are fantastic.
When I was studying law, I was reading so many big fat textbooks and law cases that I didn’t want to even look at a book so I was quite relieved, from a literature point of view, to leave Uni and start a job where I could feel like reading was a relaxing pastime again!
Hi heidi! If you go to the edit link displayed at the side of the book you want to delete, you should get a pop up box with the options for editing that book’s library status etc. In the bottom right you should see a button which says ‘remove’ . Hope that helps!

Hey Anna,
I’m trying not to be deliberately obtuse, but how do we delete books from our libraries? There was an option for it before, but I’m not seeing it now – it’s just b/c I realized I had another edition of a book and want to get rid of the extra one…
Thanks!

Thanks for following me. I will follow you back, I only just joined CN so am trying to find my way around. I have been writing articles on Associated Content (http://www.associatedcontent.com/poddys) but have been hoping to write an ebook or novel for a while.
I am still stuck trying to come up with a scenario, but when I do find one, I think I will take the plunge. I don’t want to try and write about something that I don’t know enough about, because that will require me to either be too vague and inacurate about descriptions and events (not my style), or to spend too much time in research rather than writing. I just need to find the right idea…

Yes – Roald Dahl certainly does like to put a darker element into his stories! Sorry to hear you didn’t like Catch 22. I have to admit I haven’t seen the film so not sure how it holds up to the book. It has a pretty good cast, from what I remember seeing so I would have though it would be good, maybe you should give it another go?!

I haven’t read Catch 22, but I loathed the movie, having seen it when it first came out. I was in my mid teens and it was really confusing and just boring, but then we were all high school kids in England and a world away from being able to understand it.
I loved The Witches, and the movie is good too. I still think that Roald Dahl is weird though, killing off a boy’s parents in the first pages of a book, and leaving him spending the rest of his life as a mouse. It was however a good read.
