Hello, my name is Stanley Anderson and I’ve self published a series titled: A Dog in the Manger.
I chose the title because of what it means. A Dog in the Manger is someone who has something but can’t enjoy it. However, someone else can, but out of jealousy, they won’t allow anyone else to enjoy it.
It’s derived from the Aesop Tale: The Dog in the Manger. The theme behind the fable, which I incorporated into my book, is: People often begrudge others what they can’t enjoy themselves.

The mindset of the main cahracter of my book is: If I can’t enjoy my life, then I won’t give it to the world.
He’s hiding his insecurity by making up all these excuses as to why he doesn’t want to participate in the world of competition. He wants to live life another way and he happens upon something that he thinks might be his way into a new life, however, opportunities keep eluding him because he’s been told he doesn’t belong. But he is determined to find out just what those opportunities are.

An interesting and thoughtful story. But my interests lie in fantasy novels and I am writing one myself.

Actually, I think I forgot to mention that it is a Contemporary (Or Urban) Fantasy. It has creatures and people who are able to do things normal people can’t. Thus the main character’s attraction to them.

      Writing a fantasy are you?

I have only writtn 65 pages. I plan on writing a trilogy and call it the Broodstone trilogy. It is about a boy in Althalon who has special abilities. Voltrox is trying to wipe out the Brood and the boy called Luke is one of the Brood.
