Does it matter that I live in the US as opposed to the UK as it relates to printing costs and sales of my book. I didn’t realize this was a British site. In other words would it be more cost effective to go with a US based self publisher?

      Hi Ty,

I’m not entirely impartial as I help run the site but here’s my two cents.

I think in an internet age the location of the company running the service is not important. We deal with printers and retailers in the US just as easily (if not more so) as companies in the UK. All our ordering is automated to printers in the UK, Australia and in the USA. We use distribution partners like Lightning Source, Bertrams, Gardners and CPI which fulfil orders to a large variety of retailers making a global distribution network.

A US focussed site might have customer service at more convenient hours (especially if you’re on the west coast). A US site might also have a higher proportion of US authors who can share local insights into the market. Having said that there are a variety of great forums out there for that purpose too.

I think it comes down to which service you feel comfortable with and which is most cost effective.

      All the best,

      Oli

    • Hello Oli,

Thanks for the response, it was enlightning, I certainly like the site and the info you provide is very helpful. I’m not quite finished with the book but it shouldn’t be too much longer. Thanks again.
