I upload a manuscript and it runs through the conversion process successfully providing a readable version PDF which I can download. However when I nip off into the cover designer and come back the screen displays a message that the manuscript is no good and requires manual conversion. The page size and margins are OK, and the file type is a PDF A, so I don’t understand what’s going wrong… If anyone can advise so that I don’t have the same problem with the rest of the manuscripts I have to upload that would be very helpful.
Hi Andrew,
The converter/uploader seems to be working OK at the moment. I’ve had a look into your book project and just uploaded your manuscript for you so it is there for you to continue with the book project. I will get one of our tech experts to look at the file you originally tried to upload to see what the problem might be and get back to you to let you know so that you should be able to upload things easily in future.
Best wishes,
Georgina
Found it… There was a section separator at about page 50. Once that was removed the file converted (and stayed converted) without any problems.
Hopefully someone else will find this useful :)
mmmm on second thoughts that didn’t solve it… a wee pointer from a techy person would be very helpful
Nope, back to the way it was before, uploads the file, converts it, offers me the readable copy, then gives me a bad manuscript error when I carry on to the following stages.
resolved by installing the MS font pack in Linux, changing the font to an MS one, and saving the document in Word 97 format.
