CN Central: file conversion

I have uploaded my book set the page sizes, embedded the fonts, saved as PDF A and when it’s uploaded the file goes through the conversion process OK and returns a readable PDF.
When I move on to the next step (cover designer) Completely Novel returns an error with the message “A manuscript has been uploaded but ….” and so it goes on, then asks me to request a manual conversion which will cost me £5.
The page size is correct, the margins are 23mm all round, and I don’t understand why the manuscript is after upload and conversion.
I have a lot of material to publish and I would like to think this can be done quickly and efficiently using the automatic converter rather than waiting for a manual conversion… please advise what is wrong with the manuscript I’ve uploaded so that I don’t need to fall back on manual conversion in the future.
