Hello! I’m a UK writer wanting to sell my books on amazon.co.uk and in UK bookshops. I’m confused about the handling fee. Is this something i pay or is the cost included in the postage fee paid by the buyer of the book? If so, who pays the handling fee when the book buyer is a bookshop? Also, can i just make sure i’m right that the fee is £1.25.

    Many thanks
    Kim

      Hi Kim,

The handling fee within print on demand is what the printer charges for processing the order (i.e. printing and packing for shipment.) You can find more details about the distribution process in this reply
      and in this one
      Hope that helps.

      Best wishes,
      Georgina

    • Hello Georgina
Thanks for coming back to me. I’m still not completely clear on who the printer charges for processing the order when the buyer is a bookshop. If Waterstones wanted to put some copies of my book in their shops who would pay for printing and packing for shipment? Would it come out of my royalty? Or are these costs included in the monthly fee?

Also, can i ask about ISBNs. Can i bring my own?

      Many thanks for your help.
