I have just published two books using Antony Rowe CPI as printer. Although both books have a page count of 76 pages, four extra blank pages have been added at the end. Since the original page count was divisible by 4, I am not sure why this is necessary. Do Antony Rowe have a different minimum page requirement to Lightning Source?

      Hi Simon,
I’m not sure what the answer is to this, so I’ll need to get in touch with Antony Rowe – as far as I am aware 76 should be fine so not sure why they added the extra pages.

I had the same problem – 278 pages and then they added a few more at the end. I am interested to know why?

Hi guys – here’s an explanation from one of our printers:

I think the reason that you are seeing books with extra pages added is because we print certain sizes as 4up. 4up printing produces page multiples of 8. It means that we can print quicker and offer more competitive prices to our customers.

For example a 160 page book would not need any additional pages as it divides by 8 perfectly. If you had a book that was 154 pages then it would have 6 blank pages added at the back.

      Hope that helps!

Many thanks, that explains a lot! I will bear it in mind.
