Key is the base colour which is normally black. The issue is that paper can saturate with too much ink and then it smudges/leeches. LS restrict coverage to 240% which is to say if each layer is 100% the sum of the 4 layers should not exceed 240%. This in itself can be worked around but when the colours are converted from over saturated to the restricted colour space they can change. I'm working to match up the colour profiles so the translation is more accurate at the moment. I will use your cover as a test case to tweak and see if I can match it up. So give me until tomorrow until you order the next proof and we can check the cover colours together. Oli (more)

The black and white photos in the book are excellent and work really well. BUT I am disappointed with the front cover. If you look at the cover on screen, the yellow of the tunnel and the blue of the carpet looks really vibrant. However, on the proof copy of the paperback they are both dull and grey looking. I have a feeling that it may be the quality of the photo yet at teh same time. usually, the actual hard copy picture is always sharper. Any thoughts? I have made further proof corrections to the text and am about to order another proof copy but thought I'd run this past you first. Any comments? (more)

I am assuming that it is not publicly available until I press some more buttons - It looks OK in that it is marked as Protected at the moment. I want to see the hard copy, check what the photos look like and that the cover is OK. I will also use that copy for one of the proof readers while I continue to work on proof reading the word file. I assume I can then go back in and set up another version (or do I just edit the current one?) , upload the final manuscript, make any little changes I might want with the cover.....and then go public? The system seems more slick than it was last year but I must make sure nothing goes wrong this time! (more)

Causing me a bit of a headache so I've contacted the software vendor for a fix. In the meantime I've disabled this check as it was a double check anyway so future manuscripts will go through. If you want me to check/convert anything manually just give me a bell. Oli (more)

OK, I am experimenting with some black and white images. I have tried to upload my first version of the new manuscript last night and it came back failed to convert (I knew it would be a problem!!!!!). I have pushed the button for a manual conversion just in case there are any format issues but i am using the same template as last time so there shouldnt be other than the photos. My first aim is to get to a proof copy of the book so i can have a look at the photos and doa nother proof read. Can i get more than one at this stage? I cant remember. So, if someone can have a look at the downloaded file and check it out that is base one! Thanks D (more)

We're waiting on the printers for the improved colour options. LS and CPI do already offer colour printing but it requires every page to be sent to the colour printer which is very expensive. LS are installing a new type of colour printer which will make the cost of printing the whole book much lower. CPI are experimenting with colour insert options (about £0.30 a page which is two sides). It is looking like it will be a month or so before we can start working with them to offer this service. Give me a bell if you need a hand with anything in the mean time. All the best, Oli (more)

It is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. When people like yourself tell me they have enjoyed something I have written it makes all the hard work really worthwhile. It is so easy to get a book professionally produced at little cost these days that everyone can do it. A warning though, it can take over your life! I am hoping to complete the manuscript next week after saturday's game with Leicester. Thenit is a matter of how long my various proof readers take to get through it. With a fair wind i would like to think it will be available, certainly on CN at least, by the end of May. So, go on, get your own done! (more)
