@Jackie Anderson – I have been “working” on a novel set in the Spanish Civil War for years. Unfortunately, I have never got beyond the research and plannning stage. In fact, I don’t really mind as I have enjoyed the research so much.
But if you would like some help with research to keep your project moving or would like to bouce ideas off someone, please let me know.
Meanwhile, good luck.

Thanks for the suggestion Amanda. My field is 1760-1880, have been blown away by finds at the Chawton House resource on women’s non fiction and fiction – linked to Reading and Shampton uni courses too. www.chawtonhouse.org. Does anyone else research early methods for handling childbirth? (1802-15?) best wishes Jean

As you can see, I’ve just boosted the membership by 25%. I hope I can do the same for my sales (when that happy day comes)!
I just got stuck into the research for my novel set in Europe, Africa and Asia between c.1115 and c.1200. I’m absolutely loving every moment of it, just like you Jackie. I’m finding that the research is shaping the writing in that I’m learning things that give my story more potent options than I thought I had. Do you find that? Is that how it’s supposed to go, Paul? Congratulations on finishing ‘A Question of Resistance’, by the way. Intriguing title. Does this mean that you’re stirring things up a bit. I’m stirring things up a lot!

Yes, I love it, and I’m writing a novel set in the Spanish Civil War. he only problem is I keep getting carried away with the research and forgetting about the writing!
to Historical Fiction members and won+3 RespectYes – I enjoy it too. I have just finished a navel called A Question of Resistance set in occupied France during WWII. I have enjoyed the research for the book as much as writing the novel.
