Waking up in hospital after a serious road accident in which his wife died, Blake Spencer has no memory of who he is or what he has done. However he is a quick learner and returning to his old life works hard to get to grips with his job as a fund manager in a small private bank. Things go well until the bank is investigated by the financial authorities. That is when Blake discovers that he is suspected of money laundering and fraud.
As Blake works to clear his name with the financial regulators and the police he begins to discover that his past is not as clean as he supposed.
While trying to straighten things out he discovers that he may have been money laundering for a Russian client and has been working with a lot of suspicious people.
Auditing some past deals he discovers a series of anomalies in the banks computer systems which suggest he is embezzling large sums of money. He is also questioned by the police about the disappearance of financial investigator Adam Semple.
Working from old diaries and notes with only fragments of his memory returning Blake has to work doubly hard to stay ahead of the police, the auditors and his own suspicions as he struggles to discover how much of a criminal he is and whether he really is responsible for the death of Adam Semple.
