An amazing book, personal yet universal in appeal and message.

This is a poignant and moving autobiographical piece. Despite his horrific experiences, Levi refrains from sensationalising or overdramatising his story. In this way he retains his own dignity and that of his fellow inmates and maintains a quiet undertone of hope whilst documenting a truly harrowing degrading period of his life. I would recommend this to everyone.
