Its not often an authors first novel strikes a chord as rich as this one. A brilliantly entwining story of a bunch of true friends stretching across Derbyshire and Margate. Its a very readable novel, which takes you on a journey of friendships and romance, with twists and turns which can be both warm and full of hope, but also quite moving.
if you enjoy a novel that encompasses adventure, romance with a few surprising turn of events ...then this is the book for you! Highly recommended!!
The Stars Will Always Shine is an enjoyable read, i passed it on to my mum who is now also reading it and enjoying it too. Its not overly long either for novel, which is good, and the short chapters keep you entertained, and as im from Derbyshire loved the connection and certainly people reading it from Margate would also love the strong reference to the seaside town, which this book evokes so well. The characters come to life in this adventure, Alec sounds a hoot, as do the rest of them like Limo and Jonny. Theres sad tones too to the story which i feel balance the novel us nicely. My only gripe is that the novel made me want to know more about the characters in them. But a good recommended read :)
JWC Randall. I felt like editing your book from the beginning. Your early sentences went on and on without any real punctuation. You promised a story that you remembered from 30 years but there was little build up to it; the role of your main character did not come out enough.
When you wrote about the magic of Margate, the writing improved and I hoped for better. Then you digressed to Broadstairs and Botany Bay and the girl was barely introduced. Hardly relevant to Margate's magic.
Maybe you should plan this more and see what your MAIN idea is.
1.Is it the Adoption and ruin of a friendship?
If so that friendship needs to come out much more.
Is it about an annual trip to Margate for its'magic?
If so, that sense of adventure and fun needs to be pursued.
2.Use paragraphs to describe your main characters and their actions.
3. Use careful punctuation.Read and revise!
4.Use dialogue to bring out ideas; Bring the story alive for the reader.
