This is my first ever Doris Lessing book and can now see why she has been such an icon. she has such an impressive sense of perception about the way people work, the roles people play in groups and the way that, basically, everyone is a bit crazy - but rarely recognises it themselves.
can't wait to read more of her stuff - can anyone recommend which one next - is the golden notebook a good choice?
But yeah, did get a few funny looks when reading this on the piccadilly line. whoops!
