Payments on CompletelyNovel by Anna Lewis

    published on 2010-12-07

Just wanted to write a quick note to say that we are aware that a few people from the US have been having difficulty paying for books with their credit cards. I wanted to let you know that we have contacted PayPal about the issue and hope that they will help us resolve it very soon. In the meantime, it is still possible to pay for books on CompletelyNovel. You can either try and pay using your PayPal account, or if you prefer you can contact me directly at anna@completelynovel.com We apologise for any inconvenience and hope to have this sorted as soon as possible!

Book Machine Publishing Social - definitely well oiled! by Anna Lewis

    published on 2010-12-03

Last night I braved the chilly winds and icy pavements to get to the BookMachine Meetup – it’s a London-based drinks social for folks in the publishing industry. Last night the venue was The Albany near to Great Portland Street station. It only took a little bit of wandering round until I saw people who looked like they might be publishing types (you can kind of spot them) and joined the group.

  • Interview with Virginia Prize Winner Louise Soraya Black by Anna Lewis

Interview with Virginia Prize Winner Louise Soraya Black by Anna Lewis

    published on 2010-10-07

When studying law I was once told that a law degree was for English students with no imagination. I was a little insulted, although the fact that this was said to me by a Geography student meant that at least I had plenty of colouring pencil related jibes to retaliate with. It was therefore reassuring to talk to Louise Soraya Black, former lawyer and author of Pomegranate Sky, the winner of the 2009 Virginia Prize. Louise has been a lawyer in the city for a number of years but has always had a passion for creative writing. Pomegranate Sky has been six years in the making and has just been published by Aurora Metro Press. I really enjoyed reading the book and wanted to know more about Louise’s journey, and any tips she might have for writers on CompletelyNovel (as well as any frustrated lawyers out there!)

  • The case of the missing news-feed items by Anna Lewis

The case of the missing news-feed items by Anna Lewis

    published on 2010-09-21

Hi there, Just a quick blog post to say that you may have noticed that some bits of information in your news feed, and possibly a few other things that you may have changed in the last week may have gone missing from CompletelyNovel. We were updating the website but unfortunately there was a bug in a part of the software we were using which affected some of the most recent activity on the website. We’ve been working hard to try and restore it all, but unfortunately some of the news items from the last week have gone. Apologies for that. The good news, however, it that the actual activity such as discussion posts should still be there (although the updates about them in the news feed may be missing). Also, your book projects, orders and publishing plans were not affected. If there’s anything that you find missing that you really need, then please let me know via the contact form and we will try and find it for you. Sorry for any inconvenience.

A new paradigm for publishing - blog by The Bookwright by Anna Lewis

    published on 2010-09-17

I recently dropped an email to a few bloggers who write about publishing to let them know about some of the developments that have been happening on CompletelyNovel recently. One of the bloggers, Tom Evans, who also happens to be a writer himself, got particularly excited about the service and, after trying it out, he wrote this blog post. It raises some really interesting points, so with his permission I’ve reproduced it here – you can see the original article on the Bookwright website.
