Articles: 3000 words and counting

3000 words and counting by Amanda Leduc

So, here it is. My first CN blog post to … er … celebrate the progress of The Second Novel.

The Second Novel has a tentative deadline. The tentative deadline is October 1st.

Or maybe it’s October 15th … ish.

Either way, it’s going to get done in the next few months. Re-read Stephen King’s On Writing a few weeks ago, and was reminded of the fact that he finishes all of his novels — first drafts, anyway — in three months, max. Me — it’s been over a year since The Second Novel came into being. Plenty of that time has been spent ‘faffing about’, as they say, doing things like working and eating and socialising and, most important of all, sleeping. Wonderful, glorious sleep.

But no more. I’m off to Canada in a few short days, for an extended ‘holiday’, and I have no excuses. 500 — 1,000 words a day, and that’s the plan.

In between visits to family and friends and a uni trip to Montreal and meetings with agents, etc. Totally doable.

Six hundred words today. I RULE.
