“I did start to feel a little overwhelmed. In fact, by the end of those 24 hrs I think I was so wired in I may actually have been operating Twitter through telepathy.”
That was Anna Lewis’ slightly frazzled post-op analysis of the last 24 hour book. This was project run 2 years ago by CompletelyNovel with the Society of Young Publishers, Spread the Word and If:Book, which saw a team of writers and editors pushing the boundaries of technological collaboration to their limits to produce a novel in just 24 hours. Read more about it and watch a short film here.
It’s taken time to recover and regroup from those 24 hours that produced A Vauxhall Chorus, which was then self-published through CompletelyNovel, but now the idea, the vision of collaboration and the exhilaration are back with a vengeance, and crossing continents, no less. As part of the brilliant South Asian Literary Festival, now in its 2nd year, the SYP, The Literary Consultancy and a host of talented writers are once more stepping up and on 15th October will collaborate with writers in Dehli to create a book on a South Asian theme. Let’s hope they remember to work the time difference into their deadlines!
CompletelyNovel loved being part of the original project. We’re thrilled to see it back and wish the writing and editing teams the best of luck: may your creative juices flow fast and your bandwidth be broad.
Keep up to date with the progress by following the 24hr Book on Facebook and Twitter: @24hrbook.
I have a book ready for that 24 hour process! Sequel to ’I Have To Get It Right is complete but as yet not edited and I would like to get it published for the end of November!
