About me

I started writing in my teens, and published my first book in 1997 (quite a while later!). Since then, I have published eleven non-fiction books on various subjects, with my twelfth due out in August 2009. I am now concentrating on fiction (since that’s where my heart truly lies) – specifically cross-genre SF/cosmic horror of the type practised by H.P. Lovecraft, William Hope Hodgson, Clark Ashton Smith, Algernon Blackwood, Caitlin R. Kiernan etc.
Please note: I AM NOT THE ALAN BAKER WHO WRITES CHILDREN’S BOOKS. I AM THE ALAN BAKER WHO WRITES PARANORMAL, POPULAR HISTORY AND COSMIC HORROR BOOKS

Run Down was a terrific story, and I liked precisely because it isn't easy to categorize. Looking forward to reading Postmortem (and thanks for adding Dyatlov Pass to your library). (more)

It's been hard enough getting people to read it, let alone review it (probably because of the tricky subject matter and the lack of an easily-identifiable genre to put it in), so your words mean a lot to me, especially as you're probably the most accomplished author on CN. I thought that the SPR would be a perfect inclusion in any steampunk novel - so much so that in the world of Blackwood & Harrington, it routinely works with the British Government to defend the Empire against supernatural threats. It's a huge buzz for Feaster to get a mention on the real SPR website! Best, Alan (more)

You might get a few hits from it. Regards Tom (more)
